The Crazy Christmas of 2018

This Christmas season was especially crazy.  Jae and I both took off the week between Christmas and New Year's and still for some reason are exhausted (and felt that we had no time to relax).  We were going non-stop with one thing or another.  The kids were all off school, so we were definitely glad to get back to work today (or we could have used one more day for just us adults).

All that said, while crazy, it was a lovely holiday season.  There was so much family time - it was nice to have time with both extended family and just ours.

12/23: We hosted a Kaminski Christmas where our family, Steve, Kay and their kids, and Uncle Nick came.  It was a little chaotic to start, but ended up being nice seeing everyone.

12/24: Our Christmas with Kaeden.  In the a.m., the kids got their four gifts each (want, need, wear, read).  In the afternoon, my parents and sister joined for more gifts, food, and some cards.

12/25: We slept in WAY longer than normal.  Not sure why, but Kai didn't wake up until darn-near 9:00.  I should've set an alarm, but didn't, so we had a crazy morning as church service started at 9:30.  I got the kids up, rushed to get ready, then ran downstairs so they could open their gifts from Santa.  Bennett got his beloved Nintendo Switch, which was something he had been talking about all year.  In the afternoon, we then went over to my parents for food (again) and more cards.

12/26: Jae's birthday.  This ended up (hopefully) being a great day for him.  He got to sleep in, started the morning with a 10 a.m. massage, we went to lunch as a family, and then Jae and I got to go to happy hour just the two of us.

12/27: Kurt's funeral.  My uncle Kurt passed away last week.  It took quite the toll on everyone in our family (especially my mom and her siblings).  The funeral and reception was a wonderful celebration of his life, but a sad affair nonetheless.

12/31: We ended up hosting New Year's Eve with the Kachmans, Krebs, and O'Haras.  It was a ton of fun, but again, a lot of work.  Also, I totally missed the promised 11:00 ball drop (which I cannot believe).
